32" & 29" Blunt-Nonsense Wheels

Wren No-Nonsense Hubs and Tubeless Valves meet the legendary Velocity Blunt in this epic pairing.

We've partnered with iconic Grand Rapids, Michigan based rim wizards and wheelsmiths, Velocity USA, to bring you the Blunt-Nonsense 32" and 29" wheels. These wheels are proudly assembled in the US using US and Taiwanese components.

Now taking pre-orders. Our first batch of wheels will ship early April.

RIMS

What is there to say about the Velocity Blunt 35 Rim that hasn't already been said? Manfucatured in the USA, this rim has withstood the test of time, appearing in virtually every rim diameter out there over the years, and now 32". These rims are available in black, silver, and polished (+$50) finishes. Note, these are the Blunt 35 variant of the Blunt lineup.

HUBS

Our chromoly steel star ratchet rear hubs are ultra-light and extra-beefy in all the right places. Rear hubs are also available in micro-HG singlespeed variants, offering symmetrical hub flanges for stronger, cleaner wheel builds; ideal for mid-drive and gearbox bikes in addition to dedicated singlespeeds.

High engagement star ratchet ring upgrades are available.

SPOKES / LACING PATTERNS

To increase stiffness and rigidity for these monster wheels, we build all our Blunt-Nonsense wheels with 36 spokes in a 4-cross pattern rather than the more commonly seen 32 spoke / 3-cross configuration. Nipples are brass with a black finish.

TUBELESS EASY

Like so many others, we have long dreamed of an improved tubeless valve interface. Unfortunately, the bottleneck of performance and function is quite literal when it comes to valves. To truly make a better tubeless valve, there was simply no alternative: we had to make a bigger valve and thus, need a larger valve hole at the rim.

Our No-Nonsense Tubeless Valves are essentially Schrader-sized presta valves made exclusively in brass. The larger valves allow for a lot more airflow in at once assisting with bead-setting, and the increased internal bore diameter mated with the brass body keeps tubeless sealant from clogging the valve hole. Brass valves also prevent corrosion and galling frequently seen when aluminum valves interface with the ammonia common in tubeless sealant. The core of these valves is the tried and true, easily sourced and replaced presta core.

It's not magic. It's just a bigger valve, made of better stuff.

All Velocity Blunt rims are custom made with Schrader valve holes just for these wheels.

MULLET-READY

We are huge fans of Mullets. From bikepacking adventures, to glacier travel, to weekly rides at the local singletrack, riding mulleted bikes is something we've been doing and preaching since Trek launched the 69er back in the day.

Smaller wheels are stronger and accelerate faster... not to mention fit in existing frames better. All great things for a rear wheel to do.

Larger wheels carry faster speeds, roll over obstacles better, and provide improved grip. Things ideal for a front wheel.
